Heute Morgen als ich erwachte nieselte es. Ich legte mich nochmals hin und ging so spät wie möglich zum Frühstück (eigentlich wie immer). In Spanien und Portugal gibt es meist bis 10:30 Uhr oder sogar bis 11 Uhr Frühstück – ideal für einen Langschläfer wie mich! : )

 

This morning when I woke up it was drizzling. I went back to bed and for breakfast as late as possible (actually as always). In Spain and Portugal they usually serve breakfast until 10:30 am or even till 11 pm - ideal for a slugabed like me! : )

Es regnete den ganzen Morgen und als es so um 14 Uhr aufhörte, machte ich mich mit Schirm und Kamera bewaffnet zu Fuss auf den Weg in die Stadt. Es war nur gerade 20 Grad warm und begann auch bald wieder zu regnen… Mein Marsch von Foz entlang des Douros nach Ribeira in der Altstadt dauerte eine Stunde.
 

It rained all morning and when it stopped around 2 pm, I left the hotel armed with an umbrella and my camera to walk to town. It was only 20 centigrade and also started raining again... My march from Foz along the Douro to Ribeira in the old town took one hour.

Vom Ufer des Douros ging es nur noch bergauf… ich hoffe doch auch so mit Porto... denn die meisten Häuser sind sehr verfallen, es hat überall zu viele Autos und wenig Fussgängerzone… : (
 

From the riverside of the Douro it only went uphill... I do hope so with Porto too... because most of the houses are very run-down, there are too many cars everywhere and only a few pedestrian areas... : (

Um 18 Uhr war ich ganz KO und es war definitiv noch zu früh um essen zu gehen, so beschloss ich mich spontan zu einer Dourorundfahrt mit dem Schiff. Das war eine gute Idee: Endlich eine Stunde lang nur rumsitzen und Fotos schiessen! : ))

 

At 6 pm I was quite KO and it was definitely too early to have dinner, so I decided spontaneously to go on a cruise on the Douro. That was a good idea: Finally for one hour nothing but sitting around and take pictures! : ))

 

 

Restaurant Ora Viva, Ribeira, Porto

 

 

Auf dem Rückweg setzte ich mich ins Restaurant Ora Viva, in Ribeira, und genoss eine gegrillte Dorade und eine kleine Flasche Weisswein vom Douro. Da ich danach keine Lust hatte in der Dunkelheit eine Stunde zurückzuspazieren, wartete ich an der nächsten Bushaltestelle auf den Bus nach Foz. Im Hotel angekommen, genehmigte ich mir noch einen Gin Tonic mit Nordes Gin an der Hotelbar auf dem Dach und fiel danach bald ins Koma…

On the way back I took a table at the restaurant Ora Viva, in Ribeira, and enjoyed a grilled sea bream and a small bottle of white wine from the Douro. Since I didn’t feel like walking back one hour in the dark, I walked to the next bus stop and waited for the bus to Foz. Arrived at the hotel, I treated myself to a gin and tonic with Nordes gin at the hotel bar on the roof and thereafter soon fell into a coma...
